As I write this article, the Pioneer Century is just weeks away. I’d like to thank all of the members who have volunteered to fill the positions that are necessary for a successful major event ride. Most of the volunteers are members who performed the same jobs last year, and responded willingly to reenlist when they were contacted. An event ride is complex, and while accomplishing a successful event is rewarding, it also involves sacrifice. Many of our volunteers will have foregone riding the Pioneer for at least two years in order to make it possible for others to ride. 

My request for the membership is twofold. First, make the ride a success for the club and for the volunteers by registering for, and riding, the Pioneer. Second, if you have enjoyed riding the Pioneer, step forward and volunteer next year…give this year’s volunteers the chance to ride!
