December 2025 Top Talk

The year just flew by, didn’t it? And with it ends my second stint as the president for PBC. While I enjoy the role and working for you as club members, I also like to see new faces enter the picture to give energy and different vision to the club.

I want to apologize for this past year. Losing Jim seemed to impact my ability to navigate my role as president. I just had too much on my plate and too much on my mind. Not bad things, just too much. I feel bad that I didn’t give you what I could have in different circumstances.

Working with the board and talking to many of you over the last 24 months, I have come to appreciate our club members even more. I have become more aware of how hard many of you work for the club and how generous you are with your time.

Multiple club members work many hours every month on regular tasks; some take on responsibilities that put them on call to the club pretty much 24/7; some organize huge endeavors that are vital to our survival; others volunteer a few hours when they can but are also nonetheless essential to the overall success of PBC.

Our little club was busy this year. We continue to maintain a high standard of offering at least one bike ride each day of the year. THANK YOU, RIDE LEADERS, for making that possible! I don’t see any other local cycling organization coming even close to that benchmark. Our club is all about bicycling. Ride leaders are our heart and soul. They invested a lot of time and effort in 2025 to add to our riding pleasure.

Of course, we have to mention our own wonderful PIONEER CENTURY® which was successful financially and continued to build our reputation as a bike club that puts on a great ride. We’re cyclists. We know a good route and how to feed hungry riders. It shows.

One feature I really love about our club is our interactions with one another. Some of us are good friends with each other. Others are not so close, and some of us are strangers. But I don’t see members of our club treating each other harshly or critically. Most of us are motivated by what is good for PBC as a whole with no personal agenda for aggrandizement. It’s a joy to work with you when we get to volunteer together.

Let’s take a little break over the holidays, then get back to it!

Thank you for a fun 2025.

Ann Morrow, President
