How To Use Ride with GPS

Ride Leaders who set up a free Ride with GPS account, and then join the club’s Ride with GPS Club Account, will gain free access to premium features including:

To join the Club’s Ride with GPS Account, please go to the Ride with GPS website and follow the prompts.

You will need to either sign into your existing Ride with GPS account, or sign up to create a new account. If you are not seeing a yellow menu bar across the top of the Ride with GPS page, click the orange “Sign into club” button on the right side of the page.

Corey Eng is our Ride with GPS Club Account Admin ([email protected]). Please email Corey when you have joined the Club Account and he will be happy to answer any questions. On request, Corey will upgrade Ride Leaders to a “route manager” so you can add, edit or delete routes from our Route Library. Please first create a copy if you wish to make edits to someone else’s route. Everyone who joins the Club Account will have full access to all premium features on all club routes, but cannot make edit or delete actions to existing routes from the route library.

Excellent Ride with GPS help content is available from the menu at the top of the page. There is also a Ride with GPS Help Center; the Intro to Web Route Planner and Intro to Mobile App videos are particularly helpful. Club members Corey Eng ([email protected]) and Chin See Ming ([email protected]) are regular users of Ride with GPS and they are happy to help you get started.

To share your Ride with GPS route on the club’s ride posting, email the URL of your Ride with GPS route (example: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28759355) to [email protected] and include the route distance (can be a min & max distance if you are offering options) and your terrain difficulty rating. Or you may submit it electronically and enter the required information on the submission form. (Be sure to select “URL Link” as the map type and enter the URL of your Ride with GPS route.)

You are encouraged to heavily edit the automatically generated cue sheet by deleting unnecessary cues.

The automatically generated route map (for printing/handout at the start of the ride), will need to be marked up with key street names and landmarks before you make copies. Feel free to send a photo or scan of this map to [email protected] and it will be added to your ride posting

All club members can join our Club Account and get free access to features that would normally require a paid Ride with GPS subscription, including: voice navigation and offline maps with the Ride with GPS Mobile App, map and cue sheet printing, advanced turn notifications when exporting .TCX files, and estimated ride time when viewing club routes.

Riders don’t have to have a Garmin to take advantage of your Ride with GPS route; with an iPhone or Android Smartphone, they can download the RwGPS App to record/upload rides and get turn-by-turn voice navigation. Advanced Turn Notifications require a Garmin device.

A video overview of Club Account benefits for all members is available here.

As long as you save your route as “public”, viewing your zoomable map and elevation profile will be available to anyone with an internet connection and the link to your route.
